Youth mentorship programs have been enhanced during the festive season to deter youth from indulging in societal evils.
Renowned youth Mentor Mahmoud Noor who is spearheading the activities says youth must be guided to the right direction so that they fulfil their dreams in life.
Addressing locals at Shika Adabu ground in Likoni, Mombasa during ‘Letarazi peace campaign tournament’, Mr. Noor said the efforts have yielded fruits with many youth embracing sports thus deterring from drugs crime and irresponsible sexual behaviours.
He urged the youth to take control of their lives, be positive about the challenges they face and always ask for guidance whenever they feel depressed.
“We should not shy away from the problems our youth face, we need to face them head on and always encourage them,” noted Mr. Noor.
He revealed that in the recent past, many youth lost their lives due to violent extremism, drugs and criminal activities.
“Crime and extremism is never a solution to unemployment, it all started with peace and volunteerism that many youth have reaped from their talents,” he noted.
He said the mentorship program will be expanded to cover other Coastal counties.
Noor who has been conducting mentorship programs at Swahilipot Hub a technology and art centre based in Mombasa says many youth have benefited from such programs and are making positive steps in their lives.
