Sombre mood engulfed Bondeni residents within Mombasa Island after a young man killed his father, slashed his body into pieces and stuffed the remains in a sack.
In the foulest murder, the 23 year old Abdulmajid Abdallah Fateh, killed his own father Najib Abdallah Fateh, 69 at their home behind Masjid Nuru in Bondeni and dumped the body in a toilet.
According to police, Abdulmajid has been living with his father without any reported quarreling or wrangles.
Police further says mostly the man was killed barely three days ago since the body had started decaying.
“We were worried since we are used to communicate to our brother every day but since Friday we could not reach him, this worried us even more,” noted the deceased brother Khamis Fateh.
Abdulmajid who has been arrested and is being detained by police remains the prime suspect in the most foul murder.
Najib’s body had bruises all over, indicating the man had been stabbed severally before his remains were stashed in a sack and dumped in a toilet.
When the family questioned Abdulmajid, on the whereabouts of the aging man, he said he had gone to his shamba at Mavueni in Kilifi county, however, neighbours at Mavueni confirmed that they had never spotted Najib in his shamba.
It is after the fruitless search that prompted the family members to go to central police in Mombasa where they reported Najib as a missing person.
“The police officer accompanied us to Najib’s house where after the search they later broke into a locked toilet where they found the remains of Najib inside a sack, the remains had started decaying,” said Khamis.
The incident shocked the residents who demanded nothing but justice to the late Najib, who they termed a religious calm ex-KDF officer.
Meanwhile, Muslims for human Rights (MUHURI) wants the police to fully pursue the matter and ensure justice prevails.
MUHURI rapid Response Officer Francis Auma said the painful incident should not be left without proper investigations and necessary actions taken against the suspect.
However, Abdulmajid is said to be suffering from mental disorders, serious depression among other psychological ailments.
“This is the second incident in less than a month, the first murder incident was reported in Chaani, within Changamwe constituency,” noted Auma.
The late Najib has been buried while police continue interrogating Abdulmajid.
