Police in Mombasa are detaining a man who allegedly butchered his wife at Miritini Estate in Jomvu, Mombasa county.
According to Jomvu OCPD Alfred Nthiga, the young Man Mutiso Mutinda stabbed his 30 year old wife Judith Mwanzia several times on the neck, chest and stomach killing her instantly.
The incident occurred at their Miritini Estate home in Mombasa around 3 am Friday morning.
“We were informed by the neighbours of the fracas at their home and we rushed to the place only to find Ms Mwanzia in a pool of blood, already dead,” noted Mr. Nthiga.
He said police launched a manhunt for the husband who was later found hiding in a nearby house and he was immediately arrested.
He is currently detained at the Mikindani police station within Jomvu constituency.
The young couple is said to have been entangled in domestic wrangles for some time according to neighbours.
Mr. Nthiga appealed to locals to count police as their close working partners and who should be contacted immediately whenever domestic violence or security concerns are raised.
“It is unfortunate that we were informed too late despite the two being entangled in domestic wrangles for some time,” noted Mr. Nthiga.
The body of the late Judith has been taken to the Coast general referral hospital morgue.
