Mombasa residents have raised concerns over increased insecurity in the county.
The residents say unknown people have been targeting residential houses during day time when most people are away.
The residents drawn from Majengo, King’orani, Shimanzi, Makupa, Tudor and Tononoka areas within Mombasa Island wants police to intervene and arrest the criminals.
“They broke into houses steal electronic goods and other valuables,” revealed a victim, John Wekesa.
Wekesa, a mechanic and who resides at Tudor found his house empty when he returned home in the evening last week.
Recently, Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir launched a security program within his constituency where he installed metal gates in various residential areas in the constituency.
He said the move will quell increased theft cases within Mombasa Island.
Nassir has since installed security gates in Majengo, Old town, Mwangeka, Makupa, Tudor among other areas within his Mvita constituency.
“However, as locals you have to reveal to the police people you suspect are behind this,” said Nassir.
Last week Mombasa police Commandant Augustine Nthumbi cautioned locals over increased burglary in the county during daylight, warning of serious action against the criminal network.
