Youths from Kadzandani area in Nyali constituency, Mombasa have launched anti-Coronavirus campaign in the area.

The youths are set to distribute over 10,000 face masks to the community within Kadzandani ward.

Speaking during the first phase of the program where the youth distributed over 300 face masks to residents, Kadzandani Creative Youth Organisation Executive Director Omar Chai said their efforts have been triggered by lack of information to locals about Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Mr. Chai, many people lacked basic information about the disease that’s why they never bothered.

“We are currently creating awareness to the community on Covid-19, we may give them the masks but without necessary information about the disease our efforts maybe in vain,” noted Mr. Chai.

He said locals at Kaydee area have already benefited from the over 300 face masks, disclosing that the next phase will target residents in Soweto, Mbungoni and Moroto villages within the ward.

Health regulations

He appealed to locals to properly abide by the health and safety measures provided by the government so as to prevent further spread of the Coronavirus disease.

“We should regularly wash our hands, maintain physical distance, wear face masks and mostly stay at home,” reiterated Mr. Chai.

He urged well wishers to support the initiative so that they reach many locals in the area.

False information

He rubbished those spreading false information about Covid-19 pandemic saying they are only working towards increasing the Coronavirus figures in Mombasa.

He urged youths to utilise the little resources they have to safeguard their own community.

The youth activist also appealed to locals to take the responsibility of preventing further spread of the disease in their locality.
