Parents should closely monitor their children so as to establish what they involve themselves with.
Parents have been further tasked to initiate open dialogues with their children since by doing so, children will easily open up to them anytime they experience anything unusual.
Speaking in Mombasa, Renowned youth mentor Mahmoud Noor said most of challenges facing the youths are as a result of parental neglect.
He said parents have created a gap between them and their own children, a situation that has affected many youths not only in Mombasa but the entire Coast region.
He urged parents to embrace close friendship with their children and accord them the guidance they need as they grow up.
Parents failed in executing responsibilities
“As parents I think we are suffering from ‘TB’ I mean ‘Too Busy’ and not Tuberculosis, this is very dangerous we are distablising our future generation,” noted Mr. Mahmoud.
The SwahiliPot-Hub challenged parents to seriously execute their responsibilities by guarding and guiding their children.
“Let’s not expose our children to everything the world has to offer, we should blame ourselves for the current state the youthful generation is going through,” added Mr. Noor.
The Kenya Red Cross Society Mombasa branch board Chairperson also appealed to parents to closely monitor their children progress in school so that they detect their performance and know where to assist.
The youth activist revealed that by engaging children in open forums within the family, parents will be protecting them from societal evils.
“It is a shame when parents do not even know in which class their children are in, that clearly shows the gap between parents and their own children,” noted the youth mentor and activist.
