Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir has been thrown into mourning after four of his staff died in a tragic road accident in Lamu County on Saturday evening.
The Communication unit car they were travelling in got a front tire burst at Milihoi area along the Lamu-Witu-Garsen road causing the vehicle to veer off the road and rolled several times, killing the four instantly.
The four were among other staff and journalists who were heading to Lamu ready for Sunday’s ‘Azimio la Umoja’ forum to take place at Mokowe area and which is to be graced by ODM Leader Raila Odinga.
Athman Mohammed, Ali Naaman, a journalist attached to the Legislature’s office Carol Wayua Mueni and the driver died on the spot.
Local politicians and Mvita constituents poured their condolences to the MP and the bereaved families.
It is not yet clear whether the ‘Azimio la Umoja’ forum will go on as scheduled or ODM Leader Raila Odinga will call for a postponement considering the fact that he is close to the Mvita MP.
The four bodies have been taken to Mpeketoni Sub county hospital morgue.
The Mvita constituency office and the bereaved families are already undertaking burial plans considering the fact that the three apart from Miss Carol are Muslims.
They are expected to be hurried under the Islamic rituals on Sunday.
