The National Cohesion and Integration Commission-NCIC will summon Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed over his retrogressive and diminishing remarks directed to Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura.

Mohammed in his recent remarks said, Mwaura is not living with any form of disability but ‘bleached’ himself to become ‘white’.

According to Mohammed, Mwaura bleached himself so that he acquires light skin to get an ODM nomination.

“He used such political gimmicks to be nominated twice,” said Mohammed.

While accompanying ODM party leader Raila Odinga Mohammed said the sentiments caused outrage among Kenyans.

“I have seen someone who is walking around and has been presenting himself as a person with…this Man Isaac Mwaura I thought he has a disability but he is just a white man who bleached himself but he is just a white man who bleached himself to get a nomination slot,” he said.

The remarks apart from irritating Kenyans who gnashed Junet saying he stooped too low it has attracted the attention of the NCIC.

NCIC Chairperson Dr. Samuel Kobia said the remarks are likely to create discrimination against persons with disabilities in the country.

Dr. Kobia termed the sentiments as reckless and vowed to take decisive actions against the legislature.

He said Mohammed went overboard and such remarks should not have come out of such a leader.

“If the Commission ignores such detrimental remarks from a politician or any other person, then some may continue with such reckless behaviors, we will take actions,” said Kobia.

For the last two days since his remarks, unapologetic Mohammed has been on the receiving end, with politicians calling on the government to act decisively against the Suna East MP.
