Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha has said there will be no examination for grade eight and Form four students in 2020.

Magoha said this year’s education calendar has been disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic thus schools will remain closed until January 2021.

In his public address at the Kenya Institute for Curriculum Development (KICD) on Tuesday, Professor Magoha said all the pupils and students will be forced to repeat the same class in 2021.

He however said technical institutions and universities will reopen in September though in phases.

“However we will be inspecting all the technical institutions and Universities if we discover that they do not abide by all health regulations we will immediately close them down,” said Magoha.

Magoha said they visit each institution to ensure fully adherence to health measures in a bid to protect students from contracting Coronavirus.

“Parents should love their children since they will stay with them for longer until everything calms down,” noted the education CS Magoha.

He however said parents should engage their children in various skill developments so that they learn various social angles of life.

He also appealed to teachers to help children within their locality with revision, however by observing social distancing and health measures.
