Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has said he is not interested in sideshows but fighting Covid-19.
Joho said he is only worried about the increase of Coronavirus figures in his county and nothing else.
The county Chief who has been in the front line in fighting Coronavirus in his county rubbished those cautioning him about his stand on the Covid-19 pandemic.
The governor said he fears no one and nothing will deter him from protecting Mombasa residents from the deadly virus.
“I know we want to go back to work but please for now let’s unite in taming Coronavirus before we go back to normalcy,” said Joho.
The governor has initiated various measures to contain Coronavirus including two modern isolation centers at the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) and at the Coast general referral hospital.
He has also mounted automated disinfectant machines at the Likoni ferry channel and also launched relief food program for the less fortunate families in Mombasa.
However, Joho has received strong criticism from Old town residents who rejected mass testing exercise.
According to the residents, Joho is applying dictatorship in implementing the mass testing exercise to locals, claims that the governor has since rubbished.
“There are people who have dedicated their time and resources to ensure you are safe at home and have something to eat, can you please encourage and acknowledge these selfless people who the county doesn’t pay,” he noted.
The governor reiterated that all Old town and other Mombasa dwellers who came into contact with Covid-19 patients will be tested and put under quarantine.
