The Orange Democratic Party has distanced itself from claims that it is in discussion with the newly formed Pamoja Africa Alliance (PAA) political party.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said ODM is only in discussion with Jubilee party and not any other political party in the country.

Addressing journalists in Mombasa on Friday, Sifuna rubbished the claims saying they are baseless and the party’s leadership is not aware of any deliberations between Party leader Raila Odinga and any other political party apart from the ruling Jubilee party.

“I have only learnt of this news in the media but that is not our position as ODM,” Said Sifuna.

The ODM Secretary General noted that the political party has put down its strategies focusing on the August 9, 2022 general election and nothing else.

“We have set our eyes and focus on the forthcoming general elections and we are already on course,” he noted.

It has been reported that PAA with its political roots being the Coast region is in deliberations with ODM ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

According to the reports, ODM leader Raila Odinga is said to be the guest of honour in the official party launch during his Coastal political tour.

Though Raila has not commented on the issue, Sifuna says such reports are unfounded.

Kilifi Governor Amason Jeffa Kingi is behind the formation of PAA.

Meanwhile Sifuna has urged security agencies to arrest all those who were involved in hurling stones at Presidential hopeful Jimmy Wanjigi.

Sifuna says Wanjigi like any other presidential aspirant is free to visit any part of the country and sell his political agenda.

“This incident that happened in Migori country is depicting ODM as party full of hooliganism, which is not the case,” Reiterated Mr Sifuna.

He said Migori has experienced such hooliganism urging security agencies to full investigate and arrest all those involved.

Presidential aspirant Jimmy Wanjigi was on Friday forced to cut short his Migori county political tour after he was pelted with stones by locals.

However, Wanjigi said he has forgiven all those who hurled him with stones

“I have forgiven all those who were paid to hit me with stones, however, I will not back down,” He said.
