One of the 5 people who contracted Coronavirus and escaped from Old town area in Mombasa has succumbed.
According to the Coast regional commisoner John Elungata, health officials and security officers have been trailing the five only to realize on Friday morning that one of them had died.
Three of them are under police custody while one is still missing according to Mr. Elungata.
He warned that the three will be put under a forced quarantine together with their families.
“This is a shameful act that no one should attempt, the governemnt is working towards taming the disease while others are working towards spreading it further,” he said.
According to Elungata, the search for the last positive patient is still on and warned that he will be put under quarantine immediately he is arrested.
“How can you put your beloved ones in danger?” posed Mr. Elungata.
Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho termed the incident as very unfortunate warning of severe punishment to those flouting the measures put in place to curb the spread of the deadly disease.
“If we want to go back to our normal lives lets unite in fighting this disease,” reiterated Joho.
The five were recently confirmed to be positive after a mass testing exercise in Old town area in Mombasa.
