The controversial televangelist Pastor James Ng’ang’a has been released on Ksh. 200,000 cash bail after he denied threatening to kill Citizen TV journalist, Linus Kaikai and incitement to violence.
Pastor Ng’ang’a appeared before resident Principal Magistrate Justus Kituku on Tuesday at the Kiambu Law Court.
The Neno Evangelist founder was arrested on sunday evening and spent two nights at the Muthaiga Police Station beofre being brought to court earlier today.
The arrest came after Linus Kaikai filed a complaint with the police over the viral video clip in social media issuing threats of unknown consequences against the journalist who had criticized rogue preachers and called for regulation of the religious sector, including a requirement of higher education for clerics.
He was charged on two accounts namely: uttering words that constituted as threats to kill Linus Kaikai and while referring to himself as the Chief General Commander, using words that indicated or implied that it was or might be desirable to bring death or physical injury to the Citizen TV journalist.
The pre-trial conference has been set for April 3, 2019.
