Police in Likoni, Mombasa County have arrested the third suspect in a security operation launched in the Sub County since Sunday.

Masoud Juma Mohammed, 19 was smoked out at his hideout in Vanga area along the Shelly beach road on Wednesday morning.

According to police, Juma is among a gang of more than 20 youth who have been terrorising locals, stealing from them and injuring them.

Some apart from sustaining serious injuries, the gang has been slashing with pangas killings some people.

However, police have now swung into action, vowing to destabilise the gang.

Already, two of Juma’s accomplices, Navoo Kavita famously known as ‘Governor’ and Alpha Zaidi Faruk are under police custody.

The two are said to be ring leaders and have been recruiting minors into criminal gangs in the Sub County.

The three are connected to the machete-wielding criminal outfit that on Sunday raided a 22-year-old Salim Rashid Sita’s room at Celtel area in Likoni slashing him several times with pangas before stealing valuable from him.

Sita was resting in her room before the gang descended on him seriously injuring his arms and legs.

The victim was rushed to the Coast general teaching and referral hospital for urgent medical attention.

The serious security operation targeting Jamvi la Wageni, Senti Kumi, Shika Adabu and Mtongwe Corner among other areas of Likoni comes after Mombasa County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo ordered the security agencies in the area to arrest all those who are involved in criminal activities in the area.

Kitiyo said police should not remain, mum, as juvenile gangs are maiming and killing locals every day.

“I want to see a calm, conducive for all and secured Likoni Sub-county and nothing short of that,” Kitiyo said.
