Police at Changamwe Sub county in Mombasa have launched a probe over a murder incident on Monday night.
Changamwe OCPD David Mathia said the man was driving towards the Moi International airport and on reaching the Shell petrol station junction he was shot several times by unknown assailants driving behind him, killing him on the spot.
Mathia said police are yet to establish the motive though they are already investigating the incident.
“We heard gunshots sounds and on rushing at the scene we saw Mr. Francis Kinuthia Ngige in a pool of blood inside his car. He was killed by unknown people,” said Mr. Mathia.
He however dispelled fears that Changamwe has turned into a crime zone following a recent incident where three people were shot and killed by unknown assailants along the same Changamwe-Airport road.
“This incident is not linked to last month’s incident where three people were executed in the same manner,” he told journalists at the Changamwe police station on Tuesday.
The body has been taken to the Coast General Referral hospital morgue.
Police are pursuing the killers.
