The Anti-narcotic Police Unit Police is hunting down a notorious drug trafficker who operates in Likoni Sub County, Mombasa.
Coast Regional Commissioner John Elungata who is leading the anti-drug operation said the suspect is on the most wanted list of the local police.
Elungata said police are narrowing down on the drug suspect and that it is a matter of time before he is nabbed by the security agencies.
He said three accomplices of the run-away trafficker have recently been arrested and asked the police to seek public support to fight the drug menace and crime in the region.
Elungata who was accompanied by the Mombasa County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo and Regional Police Commander Rashid Yakub has put illicit drug dealers on notice saying police would not relent on its operations targeting traffickers and other criminals.
During the tour, Elungata held a meeting with grassroots leaders that included elders, youth leaders, chiefs and their assistants and senior police officers from Likoni sub-county.
He said incidences of crime blamed on knife wielding criminal gangs high on drugs have gone down attributing it to good relationship between the police and the public.
Elungata confirmed that several key suspects have been arrested and drugs including heroin and cocaine worth millions of shillings confiscated.
