Amani National Congress- ANC Party Secretary General Barrack Muluka has resigned.
Muluka cited the need to allow Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi the latitude to make critical decisions ahead of the 2022 presidential poll.
Through a letter addressed to Mudavadi, Muluka has also asked political parties Registrar to strike off his name from the ANC’s membership roll.
Muluka exuded hope that Mudavadi will succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2022 polls.
“The party has successfully wrestled from difficult spaces and placed on a strong footing for growth and expansion across the country. It is now ready to compete for political power against other major political parties,” he said in his Wednesday statement.
Muluka further advised Mudavadi to decongest space around him in order to enable him to make personal political decisions related to his presidential candidature.
“It is now fitting that the space around you should be decongested. This will allow you to make critical decisions on the population and leadership of the party under the new constitution,” he added.
Mudavadi has accepted Muluka resignation saying he has tirelessly served the party in tough times when the party is being fought by both external and internal forces.
“On behalf of ANC i want to unreservedly thank Barrack for the committed service he gave the party. His was not an easy responsibility but he carried himself with decency and dignity,” said Mudavadi.
