Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has expressed his dissatisfaction in the manner in which the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is handling youth affairs in the party leadership.
Babu Owino (Paul Ongili) a staunch ODM member, strong follower and strong Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga seems to spill the beans in the leadership of the party accusing it of total discrimination.
In his recent post on his social media handles Owino puts it in black and white, very deep well thought and analysed sentiments that explains to the public the series of unpleasant activities going on in the political party.
Owino said, “ODM Party, so many youth and myself sacrificed a lot and used our resources in the party over the years, our pay is betrayal and blackmail. It is ok. Tomorrow is another day,”
His sentiments condensed in a single paragraph of about 33 words is already causing discomfort among ODM leadership with some believing that Owino maybe be working on a secret, well calculated political plan that will squarely shock the ODM top brass.
No doubt Owino has delivered for the party as he selflessly traversed the country during the August, 9, 2022 general election and Mombasa county Gubernatorial election to ensure ODM retains its seat.
In the Mombasa gubernatorial election, Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir clinched the top seat with United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Hassan Omar Hassan coming second.
The youthful legislature seems to be pained by how ODM party has been handled like a private property, a situation that according to him must end.
The second term Embakasi East MP’s suggestive remarks come amid complaints from youthful ODM supporters across the country after most of them were expunged from the nomination lists being replaced by non-locals
Some local youth who worked and tirelessly campaigned for ODM aspirants have been left in the cold as some new faces take charge of county assemblies causing more complaints, laments and cracks in the once giant political party.
The ugly situation has been witnessed in all the once deemed ODM strong holds among them Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi counties.
