Mombasa 2022 gubernatorial hopeful Suleiman Shahbal has signaled his political rivals to get prepared for fierce political battle.
Shahbal who however said time for total tsunami will come, he stated that he will fight for the top Mombasa county seat but only when time comes.
Shahbal who has lost twice to the current Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho said he is only supporting Mombasa county government to fight Covid-19 and he is not launching the projects with an aim of getting a political soft landing.
Shahbal who addressed journalists in Mombasa, the politician said he was engaging Mombasa County government in development issues and not politics.
“I have met Joho several times but not on 2022 political agenda, only on development and fighting Coronavirus,” he said.
Shahbal said he is not on 2022 political campaigns but he is partnering with the county government on development matters.
“Drop the speculations and join me in attaining development at grassroots level,” said the investor.
Shahbal’s defense comes amid speculations that he might be Joho’s pick to inherit him in 2022 Mombasa gubernatorial battle.
Shahbal has in the recent past seen closer to the Mombasa governor joining him in various public functions.
Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir, Former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar Sarai Kisauni Legislature Ali Mbogo and Mombasa County Assembly Speaker Kharub Khatri are among those who have announced their interest in fighting for the Mombasa County top seat come 2022.
