Former Bongwe/Gombato Ward MCA in Kwale County Omar Idd Boga has trounced his opponent Nicholas Zani in the ODM nominations.

Preliminary results as at Thursday evening showed Boga took early lead with over 4,000 votes while his opponent Nicholas garnering only 400 votes.

Over 40 polling stations had announced results with only 20 polling stations remaining.

The two had earlier urged ODM to use both the party register and that of IEBC since the ODM list was not updated.

Even before the official results were announced by party officials, Boga was already commending ODM members for trusting in him to clinch the Msambweni parliamentary seat.

Boga is expected to battle other 9 opponents in the Msambweni by-election slated for December, 15.

Political battle

In the fierce political showdown expected at Msambweni, in Kwale County, Jubilee party opted out of the race following the ‘handshake’ between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

However, Deputy President William Ruto said he will support a candidate of his choice and he drummed support for Feisal Dori an independent candidate and close relative to former Msambweni MP the late Suleiman Dori.

Other contestants are Sharlet Mariam, Wiper party candidate Shee Abdulrahman among others.

Msambweni parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death Lawmaker Suleiman Dori.

Dori succumbed to cancer in March, 2020.
