Mvita Member of Parliament of Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir has reiterated that he is in the battle for the Mombasa gubernatorial race.
Nassir says any other contrary opinion is mere propaganda.
Nassir, while engaging Mikindani and Jomvu residents within the Jomvu constituency on Saturday during his political campaign trail he said he will not relent in his journey to succeed Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho.
The Mvita Legislature said there have been fast-spreading rumours that he has backed down in the battle for county chief.
He rubbished such claims, urging those interested in the county top seat to do so without spreading unfounded reckless statements.
“Let’s embrace development-oriented political campaigns and thwart these useless rhetorics that will not uplift our people’s lives,” he said.
The Mvita Legislature said his main objective is to positively spread his development track record to the entire Mombasa county and that he is not backing down in favour of any contestant.
Recently there has been information that the politician has paved way for businessman Suleiman Shahbal for the top county seat as he fights for the Senatorial seat, claims that Nassir has since termed as baseless.
“I announced to my people back in 2017 that I was going for the gubernatorial seat in 2022 and nothing has changed that,” he disclosed.
Among the programs Nassir focuses on are expanding the ‘Skills mtaani’ youth program being implemented in Mvita constituency, to cover the entire Mombasa county.
“Youth and women empowerment initiatives, the long-term health programs among other community based sustainable projects are just but among the issues in the pipeline,” he disclosed.
The Legislature appealed to Mombasa residents to back his bid of becoming the second Mombasa governor.
He said his Mvita constituency track record is open for all for scrutiny and that’s the exact work he will together with Mombasa residents implement in realising the development agenda.
Nassir is expected to battle it out with Mombasa based investor Suleiman Shahbal, Mombasa county current Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi, Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo among others in the hotly contested Mombasa August 9, 2022, gubernatorial race.
