Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho will be forced to part with 1 million shillings to get the party’s nomination for 2022 presidential race.
The Orange Democratic Party (ODM) in a notice in the dailies said any member willing to get the party’s nomination for 2022 presidential battle, should pay 1 million shillings non-refundable nomination fee.
The Mombasa governor has reiterated that he will be in the presidential race come 2022 general election.
Joho said he will not back down as he is only eying statehouse.
“If I will be floored let it be in the presidential ballot,” he recently said.
The ODM Party also required all those interested in the Presidential race to be Kenyans, registered voters, ODM life members, possess a degree from any recognised university.
Other requirements are; be a person of high morals and integrity, be committed to the Party matters and attain all the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) provisions.
Joho who is also the ODM Deputy Party leader has until February, 26 mid-day to submit his bid at the Orange house Nairobi.
Joho has been urging his supporters to back him to ensure he sails through to the state house in 2022 general polls.
“As Coastal people, we should not go for anything less than the top country’s seat,” said Joho.
The Mombasa County Chief is a strong supporter of the Building Bridges Initiative- BBI that was hatched between President Uhuru Kenyatta at ODM Leader Raila Odinga in March, 2018.
