Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr has rubbished Wiper party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka’s move of joining the ‘Azimio la Umoja’ political movement.
Mutula who has declared his interest for the Makueni Gubernatorial seat come August, 9 during the general election said Kalonzo made a personal decision and does not reflect Wiper Democratic Movement Political Party stand.
In a statement on Sunday, Mutula said whatever discussions and circumstances that the Wiper party leader accepted to back Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid was purely a personal decision and not the WIPER party’s.
In the statement, the Makueni Gubernatorial aspirant says he will soon reveal the political direction Wiper party will take in preparation for the August, 9 general elections.
“Kalonzo Musyoka made a personal decision, not of the community or Wiper party, we can’t be forced to Azimio. Soon we are giving the direction Wiper party and the Community is going to take,” He said.
The Makueni Senator said at no point the Wiper party deliberated on joining the Azimio la Umoja’ political movement and he together with other party members and supporters countrywide were equally shocked by Kalonzo’s move.
However, Makueni governor Dr Kivutha Kibwana has weighed in the matter saying such contradictory statements are uncalled for and Mutula should cease the confusion in the Wiper party.
“If Wiper party gives contradictory messages to Ukambani and Kenya in General, that will not be healthy. The Party Leader made a pronouncement. Some people should not continue to hold him hostage. Azimio is the way for our future, what other option is Mutula Kilonzo Jr proposing?” posed Dr Kibwana.
