Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has been expelled from the Amani National Congress (ANC) party.

Malala was last year summoned to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee summon that he ignored.

ANC Governing council on Friday adopted the expulsion of Malala from the Party citing indiscipline and flouting the party provisions.

The party’s disciplinary committee had in November last year suspended and summoned Senator Malala to appear and respond to charges levelled against him during an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party rally.

Kibra by-election

The committee summoned Malala over remarks he made during the Kibra by election in October 27, 2019, that advanced Orange Democratic Movement party, prejudicing and lowering the integrity and reputation of ANC party, its members and employees.

However, Senator Malala failed to respond to the charges and declined to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee to defend himself.

During the Friday meeting that was led by the Party’s lawyer Professor Mukhwana Alutalala, the Party’s National governing council also extended the tenure of the current party leadership until post Covid -19 when national elections can be conducted.

The amendments to the party’s constitution were also ratified.

Earlier, Malala dared the party to oust him.
