Independent candidates Feisal Abdallah and Sharlet Akinyi Mariam have been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission-IEBC to vie for the Msambweni Parliamentary seat.

Akinyi was the first one to get IEBC nod to vie for the hotly contested parliamentary seat.

Later, IEBC cleared Feisal Abdallah Bader a candidate backed by Deputy President William Ruto.

Both Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya and his Deputy Fatuma Achani are supporting Abdallah in the by-election.

They were both cleared by IEBC Kwale returning Officer Yusuf Abubakar.

Immediately after the clearance, Abdallah appealed to Msambweni residents not to back down but ensure they support one of their own.

Development

Abdallah assured Msambweni voters that he will fully implement what was left pending by the late Msambweni Legislature Suleiman Dori.

He said all the pending projects among them water supply, infrastructure, education and youth and women empowerment programs will equally be executed.

“We need not to say much. My devotion to serve you will reaffirm my commitment to Msambweni residents,” said Mr. Feisal.

He urged Msambweni voters to exercise peaceful campaigns so that Msambweni by-election sets precedence.

Omar Boga

Abdallah is backed up by DP William Ruto after Jubilee pulled out of the race in favour of ODM candidate Omar Boga.

However, Boga’s candidatures hangs in the balance after a lobby Coast Beach management Units Trust filed a complaint against Boga’s validity in Msambweni parliamentary race.

The lobby through its representative Mgandi Kalinga said Boga was still an active member and one of the Kenya Fisheries Service board members.

A position he ought to have relinquished six months ago.

The ballot revolution

On her part Sharlet Akinyi Mariam also appealed to Msambweni residents to vote her as the dedicated community servant.

She said Msambweni Constituency need a woman leader who clearly understand the plights of the community and who has also been through various challenges with her own community.

“It is time we completely change the political script. This is about our lives and generations to come and not for selfish gains,” she said

Msambweni by-election is scheduled for December, 15.
