Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has urged the Kamba community to unite with ODM leader Raila Odinga and give him support to form the next government.
Speaking in Mombasa during a meeting with the community in Changamwe to drum up support for Azimio presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga, Ngilu urged her community not to be swayed away by political propaganda being peddled by their opponents Kenya Kwanza Political brigade.
“We the Kamba community wants to be in the next government after the 2022 general election, we can only form the next government by supporting Raila Odinga who will be the 5th president,” Ngilu said.
The incumbent Kitui Governor told her community Raila has been on the front fighting for the rights and political liberation of Kenyans for so many years.
Ngilu said the on-going development of infrastructure projects in various parts of the country are as a result of their political cooperation hand-shake pact in March, 2018.
Ngilu also took a swipe at Deputy President William Ruto for his tendency to mud sling political leaders during his campaign trails in public.
On his part Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Nassir, who is vying for Mombasa gubernatorial seat in ODM ticket has promised to strengthen devolution in Mombasa by devolving county services to the village level through the ‘Serikali Mtaani’ system of governing.
In his agenda for the county, Nassir has promised to push for the establishment of the Ward Development Fund to bring services closer to the wananchi.
He said that his administration will ensure that the county administration is expanded from current Sub-county and Ward level to include village administrators who will be drawn from the local community.
He added that his administration intends to push for the establishment of a ward development fund kitty to ensure that development trickles down to the ward level.
Nassir also assured the business community of a stimulus package to boost their businesses and also promised to address youth unemployment and education through issuance of bursaries to the needy pupils.
The MP also urged the Kamba Community not to allow themselves to be divided along tribal and political lines for selfish political interests by political brokers who are coercing him to strike political power bargain on the expense of Mombasa electorates
