Deputy President William Ruto held a meeting with Msambweni by-election independent candidate, just a day after Jubilee Party said it will not field a candidate in the 15th December by-election.

The aspirant, Feisal Abdallah Bader, visited the DP at his Karen residence in the company of Coast MP’s among them Nyali MP Mohammed Ali, his Kilifi North counterpart Owen Mbaya, Lungalunga MP Khatib Mwashetani, Lamu East Legislature Athman Shariff among others.

On Wednesday, the Deputy President said he will support a candidate of his choice since Jubilee was not fielding an aspirant.

Though the DP conceded to Jubilee opinions of not fielding a candidate, h said he was of the opinion that the ruling party fields a candidate for the Msambweni by-election.

Sharlet Akinyi Mariam said she was disappointed by the ruling party.

“It is the democratic right of the people of Msambweni to elect a leader that they think is fit to represent them in Parliament. I’m very disappointed,” she said.

“I was of a completely different view that the party fields a candidate in Msambweni. The decision has already been made and we want to make one decision as the party,” he said.

The Msambweni Constituency by-election is slated for December 15.

The seat fell vacant after the demise of Suleiman Dori in March.

Dori succumbed to cancer.
