Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Wednesday was engaged in a bitter exchange with his Senator Johnson Sakaja before the senate over failure to nominate his Deputy.

Sonko shared frustrations in naming his Deputy saying that it was none issue and should not make its way to the senate.

Sonko revealed that Sakaja was aiming at frustrating Sonko since he was dreaming of the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2022 general elections.

“This is truly none issue and it should not be taken before the senate,” reiterated Sonko.

But Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja denounced Sonko claims saying that Sonko must have a Deputy Governor so that the two can together work in serving Nairobi residents.

“The Senator is mandated to oversea how counties run their affairs and 2022 politics should not be dragged into this matter,” noted Sakaja.

Sonko once revealed a list on 22 people he proposed to take the seat after the exit of Polycarp Igathe, Igathe a Corporate executive and a businessman walked out of Sonko about a year ago.

Igathe was later named the Chief executive Officer and Managing director Equity bank Kenya Limited.

Ties between Igathe and Sonko loosened with each party accusing the other of mistrust.

Later Igather called it a day leaving Sonko in disarray.

In his list of nominees, Sonko named President Uhuru’s young brother Muhoho Jomo Kenyatta who is the current Executive Chairperson Brookside dairy group and Deputy Chairperson Commercial Bank of Africa.

Citizen TV News anchor Anne Kiguta, Lawyer Miguna Miguna, Nairobi County Woman Representative Esther Passaris, Public service, Gender and youth Principal Administrative Secretary Rachael Shebesh, former Transport and Infrastructure Principal Secretary Irungu Nyakera also appeared in Sonko’s Deputy Governor list.
