Tana River County Assembly has adopted a motion to impeach the Speaker Michael Justine Nkaduda.
All the 20 members of the County assembly present during the debate unanimously passed the motion impeaching Speaker Nkaduda.
The mover of the motion Mohammed Buya said the speaker has been engaging in political battle with the governor thus affecting execution of duties in both sides.
According to the Mikinduni Wadi representative, The Assembly has been operating `recklessly` with the speaker managing the assembly as his personal property.
“It is through his pathetic leadership that the Assembly is no longer discharging its mandate to safeguard the interest of Tana river people,” said Mr. Buya.
His sentiments were backed by the Leader of minority in the Assembly Abdi Argamso who said the speaker has caused major rift between the County assembly and members of the fourth estate in the county.
“As Tana river MCA`s we highly respect and like to work closely with journalists since they champion for development, however, the speaker barred journalists to access the County assembly chambers,” said Argamso.
Mr. Nkaduda will now appear before the ad hoc committee consisting of five County assembly members to defend himself against the arrogance, laxity, among other accusations leveled against him by the MCA`s.
If the members adopt the report from the five member committee, Nkaduda`s fate will be been sealed and replaced.
Deputy Speaker and MCA Wayu Ward Saddam Galole Hussein, will be taking the position in acting capacity until a conclusive verdict is arrived at.
