Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar Sarai has officially set foot in the Mombasa gubernatorial race.

This is after he was officially nominated by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in a consensus attained on Wednesday in Nairobi.

The meeting was chaired by the UDA party leader and Deputy President William Ruto.

Sarai will now face off with either Mvita MP Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir or Suleiman Shahbal or both if the ODM nomination is anything to go by.

He will also face other opponents among them Ali Mbogo or Mike Mbuvi Sonko if the Wiper party nominations are anything reliable.

The battle for the Mombasa gubernatorial seat has also seen the entrance of the current Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi who recently joined the Pamoja Africa Alliance (PAA) political party.

During the forum, Khamisi Mwaguya was nominated to contend for the Mombasa Senate post and Fatma Barayan as the Women Representative contestant.

The parliamentary slots will be filled by Mohamed Ali (Nyali), Mbarak Hamid (Kisauni), Karisa Nzai (Jomvu), Isaac Malilah (Changamwe), Omar Shallo (Mvita) and Mohamed Mwahima (Likoni).

This means that there will be no party primaries in those areas where the aspirants have been issued with certificates.

The party launched is nominations on Thursday, 14, 2022 across the country with over 8 million party members expected to participate in the UDA primaries to nominate a total of 981 candidates in various elective posts.
