Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru has rubbished her ouster by the Kirinyaga county assembly members.

Waiguru said the whole essence was a personalised initiative and she remains the duly elected Kirinyaga County governor.

She blamed the Members of the County assembly for being politically lured into fighting her.

Waiguru said she will fight for the position in all the constitutional process in the Senate.

“All the allegations raised against me by the MCA’s are pure malice and ill motivated,” she said.

In a fierce battle at the County assembly on Tuesday, 23 MCA’s signed to impeach their governor.

The mover of the motion, Mutiri Ward Representative Kinyua Wangui accused Waiguru of contravening the law.

She said Waiguru allocated herself 10.6 million shillings traveling allowance, however she did not travel despite being paid the amount.

However, the governor who had earlier obtained court order to bar the MCA’s from debating the impeachment motion said she will battle it out.

A total of 23 MCA’s voted in favour of removing Waiguru from office, while four of the representatives abstained.

6 of the Kirinyaga county Assembly members were absent during the Tuesday session.
