In a Gazette notice dated September 1, 2021, the president formally appointed Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, Irene Masit, and Justus Nyang’aya, to the position of IEBC Commissioners.

MPs unanimously approved the report of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) chaired by Kangema MP Muturi Kigano and cleared the forwarded list by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The new commissioners will serve in the respective commissions for a period of six years.

The four approved will be filling the vacancy left by Margaret Mwachanya, Paul Kurgat, Roselyn Akombe, and former vice-chair Consolata Maina who resigned from the commission after the 2017 General Election.

Also appointed are the five nominees to the Teacher Service Commission namely Nicodemus Ojuma, Christine Kahindi, Sharon Jelagat, Annceta Wafukho, and Salesa Adano who were given a nod by the National Assembly.
