Suspected drug lord Ali Punjani is awaiting warm police ‘reception’ at the Moi international airport on the 26th of August according to reports.
Punjani was discharged from the Bandara based Asian Institute hospital in Mumbai, India on Friday where he has been receiving treatment after a successful heart surgery.
According to the hospital reports, Punjani was admitted in the hospital since 6th August after he suffered heart problems that prompted heart surgery to ease blood flow in his body.
He is scheduled to travel from Mumbai, India on the 26th of August to Nairobi and connect another flight to Mombasa on the same day to arrive in Mombasa in the afternoon.
Sought by police
Punjani is sought by anti-drug police unit who on Monday searched allover his mansion and arrested three foreigners including his wife Karki Shushmija.
Shushmija was on Thursday released after police failed to furnish the Shanzu law court with evidence on charges of drug trafficking leveled against Shushmija.
Police ordered Punjani to surrender to authorities before excessive force is applied in searching for him.
“Wherever he is, we want him to surrender to authorities and answer to very many questions revolving around the drug trafficking network,” Mombasa police Boss Johnstone Ipara told journalists.
However, during the search at the Nyali based Punjani’s palatial home, only a roll of bhang and Ksh. 3,000 were discovered.
