Lamu based gender and children rights activists have raised red flag over relaxation among locals in the fight against Coronavirus.
Led by renowned Lamu activist Raya Famau the women are cautioning locals against ignoring the safety and health measures warning that the situation may worsen.
According to Ms Famau, no county is safe at the moment and other counties are struggling to combat the disease.
Speaking in Lamu, Ms Famau said locals must adhere to all health and safety measures so that they remain safe from the disease.
“Our people are traveling to various affected counties among them Mombasa and back to Lamu. None of them is taking any Covid-19 examination,” she revealed.
The activist said some residents have travelled to Mombasa for burial of their loved ones who succumbed to Covid-19 and they returned to the county without isolating themselves or taking any Covid-19 examination.
“Be informed that the second phase of the virus is worse and we should all protect ourselves and our families as well,” she noted.
Famau said most of the residents despite being well informed about the Covid-19 threats they completely ignored.
“None of them is even wearing a mask, washing their hands regularly or even keeping physical distance. In fact they great each other as if everything is normal,” she disclosed.
She appealed to locals to always adhere to the safety measures so that they avert further spread of the novel Covid-19.
