Gender and children’s rights defender Topista Juma and Former Star Newspaper reporter Ernest Cornell Oduor were on Thursday seriously injured in a tragic road accident along the Mombasa-Malindi highway.
Topista, Gender and children’s rights defender at Muslims for Human Rights MUHURI together with Mr. Oduor, Communication, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in the same organisation were seriously injured after their car rolled several times at Matsangoni area in Kilifi.
The two were rushed to Kilifi Sub-County hospital locals and they were later rushed to The Agha Khan hospital in Mombasa for urgent medical check-up.
Topista and Cornell were heading to Malindi high court to follow up on a defilement case.
A cleric was sentenced after the court found him guilty but he appealed and the two were attending the court session on Thursday.

“The road is under construction and in pathetic state, we are going to sue the contractor,” noted MUHURI Rapid response Officer Francis Auma.
Topista and Cornell are responding well to treatment according to doctors at the Agha Khan Private hospital.
