Dedicated, tireless, hardworking Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Robert Bob William Collymore is dead.
Collymore passed on at his Nairobi home Monday morning aged 61.
Died of cancer
In a statement to newsrooms Monday morning signed by Safaricom PLC board Chair Nicholas Nganga, in October 2017 Collymore proceeded to the UK to receive treatment of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and returned into the country in July 2018 to resume duties.
He has been undergoing treatment for his condition since then in different hospitals and most recently at Agha Khan University hospital in Nairobi.
“In recent weeks, his condition worsened and he succumbed to the cancer at his home in the early hours of Monday morning,” read part of the statement.
Married with 4 children
He was married to his love of life, Kenyan lady Wambui Kamiru in April 2016.
He leaves behind a wife and four children.

He loved his family and the community becoming a great, loved social worker
The board extended his term of service as the company’s CEO for one year as it sourced for his predecessor.
He has served the community tirelessly and selflessly through Safaricom foundation, alleviating poor children learning in dilapidated rural schools countrywide.
“On behalf of the Safaricom PLC board, we extend our deepest condolences to his family , staff of Safaricom, partners and the nation at large who he served selflessly and with joy,” read part of the statement.
