The eight month pregnant woman who went missing last Thursday and was later found alive at Nairobi was not pregnant, police revealed on Monday.

The whole incident took a new twist when Mombasa DCI Jacob Kanake denounced that the women was pregnant.

Kanake revealed that Saida’s pregnancy was choreographed and gynecologists at the Coast general hospital who did a medical examination revealed that Saida could not conceive since she had a problem with her uterus.

Kanake said that Saida’s story was only meant to create more panic and depict Mombasa as most affected by abduction cases.

“It seems there are people who are only planning to spread lies and panic among locals, the pregnancy was only a creation we can vividly confirm that,” added Mr. Kanake.

Saida’s mother Khadija Bwanaomar said that her daughter has never done such a thing and the family was shocked.

On his part, Muslims for Human Rights- MUHURI Chair Khelef Khalifa said that the human rights lobby was only doing its work.

Khalifa said human rights defenders could not stay numb as the family was crying for help and could not understand why the lady would tell lies.

However, Khalifa vowed to work closely with security agents so as to curb the abduction and forced disappearance cases which were on the rise in Mombasa.

Mr. Kanake said that though Saida, 20 was handed to her family at the urban police station, she may be charged for spreading false information and causing alarm to Mombasa residents.

Kanake said that police used a lot of resources in pursuing the abductors as well as ensuring she access urgent medical treatment at the Coast general referral hospital.

Police are still piecing up the incident before they announce their next course of action.
