The family of a pregnant woman who was abducted on Thursday in Mombasa breathed a sigh of relief Sunday evening after their kin was found at Nairobi alive.

According to detectives though the lady, Saida Abdulrahman, 20 was found alive, her health condition was uncertain and was receiving urgent medical treatment at a Nairobi hospital.

Delivering the positive news to the devastated family, Muslims for Human Rights- MUHURI Chair Khelef Khalifa said that cases of abduction were on the rise in Mombasa and have caused panic among locals.

Mr. Khalifa revealed that such cases have not been fully investigated to unleash the motive behind such incidences.

“We are all living I fear, we are not sure who is behind these abductions we need proper investigations and arrest of all culprits,” he said.

Khalifa appealed to security agents to pursue the culprits despite having released Saida Abdulrahman.

On Sunday, the family through Saida’s mother Khadija Bwanaomar said that Saida left their home at Mwembe tayari on Thursday and headed to Buxton where she was to take a matatu to Malindi and then take a flight to Lamu, a journey that never materialized.

“She only called back in the evening telling us that she has been abducted and that she didn’t not know where she was,” said Khadija amid tears.

She appealed to security agents to help her locate her missing daughter who was eight months pregnant.

The family said that Khadija was diabetic and could not eat or sleep since her daughter was abducted on Thursday.

Police are pursuing the matter and they have assured the family that Saida was safe and receiving medical treatment in Nairobi.
