Snake switches off Lamu County

A snake sent many parts of Lamu county into darkness on Sunday morning.

According to Kenya Power officials, the snake ascended to the main electric supply poll at Ndau Sub-station causing a total blackout in all areas of Ndau.

It took the Kenya Power emergency response team more than four hours on Sunday morning to restore power in the affected areas.

Other parts that were affected by the incident were Mpeketoni, the entire Witu area, Mokowe, and Hindi areas.

The entire LAPSSET project and its environs as well as Lamu Island also suffered the snake powers.

The blackout also affected some businesses that highly depend on power supply, among them perishable groceries, butcheries, and fresh milk stores.

Electricity was however by Sunday mid-morning restored.

The snake was electrocuted.
