Kenya’s Sarah Achieng’ and Malawi’s Anisha Basheel on Tuesday October 19, met for the first time during the weigh-in for Wednesday’s 22Bet-sponsored Commonwealth light-welterweight title fight at Charter Hall, Nairobi.

Both boxers bubbled with confidence, Achieng’ carrying her Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) and national lightweight belts with Anisha showing off her Commonwealth and Africa Boxing Union (ABU) belts.

They’ve been engaged in a vicious war of words for the last one week.

So, tomorrow (Wednesday) they’ll prove to the world who’s the better of the two.

Anisha is the first female boxer to win a Commonwealth title when she TKO’d Britain’s Sam Smith in the first round in 2018. The Malawian has won all her eight fights on KOs and lost six times.

Achieng’ has a record of 13 wins, 7 on KOs and two losses.

The show starts at 2pm with seven supporting bouts, one of them Kenya’s V. Wesonga and Tanzania’s A. Bakari vying for Pugilistic Syndicate of Tanzania (PST) super-feather belt.
