Joan Laporta a presidential Candidate at Barcelona was reportedly willing to replace Ronald Koeman with the current manager of the Gunners Mikel Arteta once elected as a president of the Club.
But the Arsenal Team Manager has downplayed the speculation linking him with a job in the Camp Nou dugout.
“There is always going to be speculation when there are elections in Barcelona, it’s a huge team,” Mikel Arteta said of the emerging reports linking him with the Blaugrana,.
“Obviously I was raised there as a player and there is always going to be links. But I am fully focused on the job that I have to do here, which we have a lot to do, and I am really enjoying it.
“Today and tomorrow I am the manager of Arsenal football club and I am really enjoying it. And I want to do much better than what we have done so far,” he said.
He said he was extremely happy in managing Arsenal.
Arteta was part of Barca’s youth teams between 1997 and 2001. As per reports, he’s seen as a prime candidate to replace Ronald Koeman in the Camp Nou dugout if Joan Laporta wins the upcoming presidential election since they had a good relationship and considered Arteta as one of the Elite Young Managers in Europe.
On the other hand, Laporta’s right-hand man Rafa Yuste has already denied any contact between their camp and the Arsenal boss.
