Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya and his Deputy Fatuma Achani on Friday flagged off SS Assad FC at the Kwale Head Quarters, Kwale county.
The team will be travelling to Nairobi this weekend to face Luanda Villa in their play off match to join National Super League.
SS Assad FC is a Kwale based football team participating in the Nationwide Division One Zone A league.
In his address Mvurya lauded the team for finishing second in the just concluded Division One League where the team secured a place to face Luanda Villa which finished second in the Nationwide Division One Zone B league.
“I am impressed by the outstanding performance that you have shown this season. Actually this is a commendable job. I want to take this opportunity to thank the management, coaches and the players for having set our county name at the national platform,” said the governor.
Mvurya said his administration has been in the fore front in ensuring maximum support to the team resulting in to the stunning results.
“As I hand you this flag, please go and represent us well and qualify to the National Super League,” said Mvurya.
Speaking at the same function, the Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani expressed her satisfaction with the team and vowed to support it.
SS Assad Fc will face Luanda Villa at the Utalii grounds on Sunday at 3pm in Nairobi.
In attendance were the Social Services and Talent Management county Executive Member Ramadhani Masudi Bungale, the Deartment’s Chief Officer among other county government officials.
