Kenya’s national football team Harambee Stars has been selected among the five African teams fighting for the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Men’s National team of the year award slated for January 8th, 2019, in Dakar, Senegal.
According to Fkf, the nomination comes following Kenya’s outstanding performances in the past 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers matches where the Stars picked up seven points from three matches.
The Kenyan team which also became second at the Hero Intercontinental Cup in India, a four-nation tournament that also had Chinese ,Taipei and New Zealand taking part, has greater hopes of bagging the award come next year.
Stars are contending in next year’s continental showpiece alongside their eastern Africa counterparts Uganda, western Africa’s Guinea Bissau.
Other teams that are nominated include Madagascar, Mauritania, and Zimbabwe .
