“King of the Course” to Roar at Nyali Course on Saturday as 250 Golfers battle for top prizes

The Grand finale of the 5th Edition of the ICEA LION 2022 “King of the Course” Golf tournament will be played at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club Course On Saturday where over 250 Golfers will be testing their skills for top prizes.

Golfers from the Club, Sea-Link Mombasa, Leisure, Vipino Ridge, Malindi Golfers, Guest Clients of ICEALION and members from other clubs across the Country with valid handicaps will be playing in the daylong 18 holes stable ford Tournament.

ICEA LION is the main sponsor in this close of this year’s series that kicked off at Machakos Golf Course in January 2022 and played over at Thika Greens, Ruiru, Nanyuki, Eldoret and Nandi Bears Golf with over 750 golfers.

Nyali Golf and Country Club Captain Zafir Din said yesterday that the tournament is expected to close off the year in style at the Club course with several golfers from other clubs across the country including 20 from Machakos.

“The course is at its best, with the evergreen fairways and superbly well cut greens in the hot sun, lots of prizes, succulent choma on the course, euphonious beautiful and pleasant sounds of the coastal music await the golfers, courtesy of ICEA LION, the King of the Course title sponsor, Sais Din.

He noted that being the most centralized golf club in the coastal region, the Club Management was very happy to be associated with ICEA LION who have always preferred Nyali Golf and Country Club for their annual grand finale tournaments over the years.

“We look forward to nurturing this relationship and ensure we give ICEALION who is also our official insurer value for their money. Let’s keep the lion roaring,” said Din.

Men players to watch among them are Fahmy Bajaber,Lewa Omar,Vimal Rampuro,Sanjeeve Khangram,Bernard Simiyu,Wilkliam kaguta,Martin Wahome,Salim Tweshe,Peter Gachuri,Taib Bajaber,Justin Kaburu, Muchai Lumatete,Jon Stokes ,Martin Ombura, and Jimmy King’ori.

The Ladies among them are Susan stokes, Joyce Kamau, Wanjiku Kinyeru, Pauline Gachihi, Terry Odoo, Provia Odhiambo, Jayne Githere, Alice Wahome, Caroline Munyi, Mary Mariga and Zaituni Mohamed while Juniors has among them Chauhan Shay, Aydan Jamal, and the Kaur sisters Rasmeet and Harsimran.

The Club’s Green Keeper Salim Tweshe has assured the golfers this time it’s going fun around the course since he is going to place the pin in easy positions to avoid them being tormented.

Chief Executive officer ICEA LION Insurance Holdings and General Insurance Philip Lopokoiyit said that due to its increased popularity and extraordinary, ICEA LION has enjoyed taking this exciting circuit across Kenya in 2022 as they sought to promote the sport and its enthusiasts as well as engage with their potential and existing clients.

“It is fitting that we conclude this series at the historical home of ICEA LION in Mombasa since our roots date back to marine insurance in Mombasa in 1895 and indeed a region for which we have had and continue to foster great partnerships with our Clients,” said Lopokoiyit.

He announced that the stage for the 2023 Year Opener is set and that the series will commence on Saturday 7th of January 2023 at Machakos Golf Club.
