Gor Mahia is in admittance that they have an axe to grind in their match against rival AFC Leopards as they had not lost a match in their last six matches played in the top-flight.

July 22, 2018: AFC Leopards 1-2 Gor Mahia

Gor Mahia restored their 12-point lead at the top of the Kenyan Premier League table following a 2-1 victory over their rivals. It was striker George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo who powered home the winner in the 53rd minute after they had taken a lead through Jacques Tuyisenge in the 21st minute before Whyvonne Isuza levelled matters for Ingwe in the 45th minute.

August 25, 2018: Gor Mahia 2-0 AFC Leopards

Gor Mahia successfully defended their Kenyan Premier League crown after downing AFC Leopards 2-0. A perfect finish by Boniface Omondi and a well-placed strike from Bernard Ondiek, albeit controversially, was all K’Ogalo needed on this day to bag their 17th title.

February 9, 2019: Gor Mahia 2-0 AFC Leopards

On this day, Gor Mahia moved second on the log following a 2-0 victory against rivals AFC Leopards. Kenneth Muguna and Francis Kahata scored a goal apiece to hand K’Ogalo their 28th Mashemeji Derby victory during the 85th meeting between the two sides and three vital points that took them level with Bandari on 22 points.

May, 05, 2019: AFC Leopards 1-3 Gor Mahia

Gor Mahia continued their dominance in the Mashemeji Derby with a dominant 3-1 win against bitter rivals AFC Leopards. Nicholas Kipkirui scored K’Ogalo’s opener in 23rd minute after a cross from Francis Kahata and added the second in the 37th minute before Tuyisenge powered home the third to seal the game in the 56th minute.

November 10, 2019: Gor Mahia 4-1 AFC Leopards

The emphatic win enabled Gor Mahia to reclaim their top spot in the 18-team league table with Ivorian striker Gnamien Yikpe the man of the match after he grabbed a brace. Clifton Miheso and Lawrence Juma then scored the other two goals with Tresor Ndikumana pulling one back but it was not enough to deny K’Ogalo victory.

March 08, 2020: AFC Leopards 0-1 Gor Mahia

The win enabled Gor Mahia to increase their points at the summit to 54 points and remained on course to win another title. Boniface Omondi scored the only goal which separated the Kenyan Premier League’s most successful sides to ensure Gor Mahia did a double over AFC Leopards in the 2019/20 season.

K’Ogalo have recently carried the day when coming up against their bitter nemesis Ingwe but will the outcome be different on Sunday? As they face each other with no fans allowed by the government due to the Coronavirus Outbreak at the Kasarani Stadium.

Both clubs are on form with the Green Army smashing Bandari FC 3-1 at Mbaraki Grounds on previous match while AFC Leopards defeated Posta Rangers on 2-1 at Moi Sports Centre Kasarani.
