The hearing into police murder of Taveta local starts October 1 at Voi High Court and will runs for two consecutive days.
Police corporal David Gitahi, 56, shot dead an unarmed 36-year-old Juma Mwanguka on March 29 at Rockland Club, at 11:30 pm, authority report indicated.
Gitahi was heavily intoxicated when he aimed at Mwanguka and opened fire, killing him instantly, patrons at the club revealed.
“We facilitated the postmortem on April 5. The result showed Mwanguka was shot four times in the chest, wrist, and arm,” noted Muslims for Human Rights- MUHURI Rapid response Officer Francis Auma.
The shooting was done at a close range.
The bullets severed Mwanguka’s heart, liver, and lungs leading to massive internal bleeding, which caused his death.

“We are in court watching brief for the deceased family,” added Mr. Auma.
The bond ruling will be on July 16.
Voi High Court Judge Farah Amin said Gitahi should be remanded at Voi prison.
He was locked up at Shimo La Tewa prison, Mombasa.
