Teacher who savagely pinched helpless pupil charged

A teacher has been charged for gruesomely pinching the left ear of a 10-year-old girl badly injuring the minor.

The girl allegedly made noise during an English lesson on January 28 and suffered the punishment.

The accused, Muindi Maina Abiud, is an English teacher at St. Claret Nursery and Primary School in Kiembeni, Mombasa.

Maina, 38 was on Monday charged with assault.

He denied the charge and was released on Sh. 5,000 cash bail.

According to doctor’s report, the girl, a Standard Six pupil suffered savage ear cut.

The girl is yet to report back to school as she nurses the injury.

The minor was rushed to Nairobi Hospital, Bamburi before she transferred to Agha Khan, Nyali after the heinous act.

The pupil bled profusely according to preliminary findings.

Muslims for Human Rights-MUHURI has condemned the act and said they’ll ensure justice is served.

MUHURI rapid response officer Francis Auma said that such cases are on the rise in Mombasa and other parts of the Coast region.

He said that MUHURI will pursue the issue which is already in court until justice is serves.

Auma also called for thorough investigations at the St. Claret Primary school at Kiembeni which is under the Catholic church to establish how the school treats pupils.

He asked the ministry of education to intervene.
