Three Al- shabab militants died after an Improvised Explosive Device –IED exploded at Bodhai in Lamu on Thursday morning.
Lamu police commandant Muchangi Kioi said the three were planting the IED along Bodhai-Bargon road before it exploded killing two on the spot and the other one thrown about 500 metres in the Boni forest.
Kioi said their bodies were badly mutilated and one had his head completely gnashed.
“The militants were targeting GSU patrol vehicle that was on an night patrol in the area,” noted Mr. Kioi.
Police also recovered three fully loaded AK-47 magazines and extra 12 rounds of ammunition at ‘Kwa Omollo’ area where the incident occured.
Police are combing Boni fresh to net more militants who may be hiding in the forest.
