Coast regional commissioner John Elungata has assured candidates sitting for their KCPE exam and exam managers’ adequate security within the examination centers during the three – day exam which kicked off today.
Elungata said adequate security personnel have been deployed to man all exam centers and adequate vehicles to transport exam materials.
Speaking while witnessing the opening of the exam containers at Coast regional headquarters office- Uhuru na Kazi building in Mombasa on Monday, Elungata revealed that the government has put in place watertight measures to curb exam malpractices.
The Coast regional administrator saying the government has sent extra security personnel in the troubled Lamu County and assured the candidates of their safety as they sit for their exams
The senior administrator assured that exam managers will do a roll call to ascertain if all candidates are taking their examinations.
There are 101,857 candidates in both public and private schools taking their KCPE examinations in the entire Coast region.
41857 are boys while 42,284 are girls.
According to the Kenya National Examination Council 1,225,507 candidates started their KCPE exam on Monday.
