Two minors who died in Mombasa fire incident, buried

Two minors aged 3 and 4 years who perished during fire incident in Mombasa on Tuesday have been laid to rest.

The two children were buried at Seif-Halwa Muslims cemetery at Kikowani within Mombasa island according to Islamic rituals.

The Tuesday afternoon incident that occurred at Majengo Chura area in Tononoka, right opposite the Coast General Teaching and Referral hospital destroyed property of unknown value.

The two storey houses are owned by the Mombasa county government.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established.

Meanwhile, Mombasa residents are demanding for an overhaul of the Mombasa disaster management department.

Speaking at the incident scene, a resident Bakari Ali criticized the fire fighters for sluggishly handling the incident.

Police have launched investigation over the incident that has left several families homeless.
